COVID-19

COVID-19 is the most serious healthcare threat that most of us have experienced in our lifetime. As a healthcare provider and employer, the health of our patients, colleagues, and community are paramount. We are implementing the latest and most accurate information about the virus from our professional associations, healthcare authorities and scientific thought leaders.

Our facility has always maintained high levels of sterility, often being more than what is required by regulations. Currently, we are observing even further precautions to ensure the safety of our team, patients, and community.

In compliance with the latest recommendations from our regulators we will be requiring all patients get tested for COVID-19 prior to their surgical appointment. Additional information will be provided to you when you make your appointment.

Additional things that you should know about our office at this time:

  • Healthcare facilities maintained such as ours are in fact safe. Our office is constantly being cleaned and protective barriers are placed between patients and staff.
  • Our treatment areas are vacated for 30 minutes immediately after each patient dismissal to allow for any airborne pathogens to settle and then disinfected thoroughly.
  • We have expanded our protocols into every area of the office and every aspect of treatment to help mitigate disease transmission.
  • We are managing our schedule to reduce the number of people in the office at one time, increasing the ability to establish safe social distancing.
  • We will ask you to use hand sanitizer at the beginning and end of your appointment.
  • Your medical history will be updated upon arrival to our office, reviewing your possible COVID-19 risk factors and taking your temperature.

If you do require urgent care during this time, you must inform us prior to the appointment if:

  • You have a fever, cough or flu-like symptoms.
  • You have had a recent altered sense of smell or taste
  • You have been in contact with anyone that has been ill within the last 14 days.
  • You have been tested for COVID-19 and are awaiting results.
  • If you have traveled out of the state of Maryland during the last 14 days.
  • We hope that you stay healthy during this time and follow the guidelines set by the National Center of Disease Control. Dr. Spector and the staff at Chesapeake Oral
  • Surgery and Dental Implants look forward to treating you for elective procedures when it safe to do so.
